| Last weekend, playing in the snow I only lasted 5 minutes before I had to use the bathroom. |
Hey all! Sorry I went MIA again... A lot going on over here. I haven't been feeling well... At all. I've been sick and on and off of prednisone since I had Baby A. I've been avoiding further, harsher treatment because I didn't want to take stronger meds. But, with nursing and my Crohns being so active, my weight has dropped and I've been up every night for hours feeling ill, bleeding just about everytime I use the bathroom. I didn't want to bring this up on the blog because I knew I would receive a lot of "doesn't diet help..." etc. Well, diet does help me, but when I'm sick, I can't eat raw foods or anything with fiber and I don't want to live on white rice and rice cakes for the rest of my life. So I took the next step and chose to start IV infusions of medication, every 8 weeks. I have gone this route in the past and it helped me stay well for 2 years. I want to be able to do this along with eating the healthiest diet possible. East meets West, if you will. I don't want to disappoint any of you. I know there are gurus who claimed to have "cured" their crohns with diet, but my Crohns is considered a severe case, and while I would love to say diet can cure me, it just isn't happening. For now, I'll stick to this approach. To each his own. Believe me, this is the last thing I wanted.
I'm happy to say, I can still nurse since the molecule in the medication is too big to pass into my milk. I can even take it while pregnant (but since I went into remission while pregnant with Baby A, I think I would stop taking this before we tried to conceive again. We are going to wait another year or so before that happens). I had my first treatment yesterday, it was very hard for me and I even had a little crying breakdown before I went.
Also, when the Mastitis I had cleared up, it left a small lump in my breast that felt like a pebble. I had that checked out this week and it seems to be nothing but my doctor is sending me for an ultrasound, next week, just to be safe.
So that's what's going on with me. I'm not looking for advice, just the support and love that you all have always shown me. :)
Anyway, T turned 30 on Wednesday and we are going out to dinner Saturday night to celebrate, I'm hoping I feel better by then. My birthday is this up coming Wednesday and we hope to go to dinner at a vegan restaurant. Crohns has had me being a prisoner in my own home the past few weeks. I don't want Baby A to suffer because of me, I want to be a mother who can play with her kids, run around and be fun! Hopefully, this treatment will let that happen.
Thank you all for listening! Xo

You gotta do what is right for your body!! I know you care about how others might perceive you/your illness and how you eat, or letting down readers, but I cannot imagine that someone would judge you when you're obviously quite sick.
Plus, no one knows what it's like in your shoes, even those with your disease. Everyone is different!
Hope the infusions help and you can feel better soon!
Remember, only you know what's best for YOUR body. Way to take control and declare it to the world. Naysayers be damned! I hope this treatment helps you feel better.
sending you a big hug lauren! take care of yourself...always!
love the pic of you and your precious princess.
sending you a big hug!!!
Big kudos to you for taking this step! It takes courage for allowing yourself to accept the conventional treatment you have been trying to avoid for so long. YOU know what's best for YOU and I pray that this medication helps you for a long time to come. I can't see anyone looking at you differently and if they do - pfff...forget them! You will still be the fun loving blogger that I look forward to reading about everyday and you will still be able to share all your yummy raw/vegan foods with us! I'm so happy for you and proud you took this big step!!! xo
I'm bummed to hear your feeling crummy but happy to hear that there is a tried and true option out there for you. I'm glad you're open to other alternatives - sticking one's head in the sand is never the right option, so it is awesome you are doing what is best for you regardless of what others might think or say! Good luck and feel better soon!
Thinking of you Lauren, so sorry to hear you are not feeling your best!! Glad that you are doing what you need to to be healthy and happy, WHATEVER that may be, you know your body and what is best. You deserve to enjoy your life!! Sending love and support ,hugs <3

I wish you the best Lauren! I hope you get well soon, and I'll be praying for you! Don't worry about baby A, everything is going to be great! This is just a rough moment.
Get well soon!
Hey Lauren,
I feel for you my love. I am a Crohne's survivour as well. I have had to date 3 bowel resections due to blockages, scar tissue, ulcers and the like. What did help me was broth. I made my own veg broth by boiling leafy greens and carrots with some veg stock and salt....I lived on that until I was able to have more. I'm so sorry you're going through this, you are in my prayers
I am so sorry you haven't felt your best. i can relate with you on many levels. You are so strong, and you are in my prayers <3
I'm so glad you are choosing the path that is right for YOU. Xox
Food only does so much sometimes.
you are such an amazing person, don't ever let your Chronn's make you feel down! hope you feel better very very soon!
Thanks for sharing. You know yourself best so you need to do what is going to help make you better. We are actually lucky to have conventional medicine when we need them. I'm sure your body does better during these treatments because you take such good care of yourself on your own. Hugs to you Lauren!
You know we all love you and are here to support whatever you decide to do. It's your body and you know what it needs more than anyone else. Crohn's sometimes can be improved with diet, but that's not always the case. I applaud you for doing what's right for you. Hope it works and that you feel better soon.
On another note, happy belated bday to your hubby and happy early bday to you :-)
I'm so sorry you're going through this! Thanks for sharing your honest approach to your situation. I think it will do a world of good for others who may beat themselves up thinking there is only one way to do something. Hang in there, sweetie!
So sorry to hear all that you have been going through! I hope you'll be back to feeling your best in no time! thanks for sharing your brave story. xo!
oh no! i'm so sorry to hear this! sending lots of love and healing wishes xoxoxo
Sending you tons of love and healing energy.
Happy birthday to you both!
XOXO,
Kristen
You have no idea how much compassion I feel for you!!!
My husband has Crohn's as well as our 16 year old daughter and our 5 year old son!!!! My heart broke when we got the diagnosis of our children.
My husband survives with no meds but suffers on and off.He avoids most of the dietary time bombs. Our daughter and son are on LDN (low dose naltrexone). Look into that if you haven't already. Having them being diagnosed so young I have to do the least toxic treatments as possible, I'm sure you can understand. The LDN has virtually no side effects and keeps their inflammation at bay. Their blood work has been good and we also manage this disease with diet too.
I wish you healing!!!! Keep your positive attitude, I know you will find what you need to be well. Keep looking and researching, I learn something new everyday about this disease. But it can consume you and that gets frustrating doesn't it??!!
Peace and Raw Health,
Elizabeth
Oh Lauren I am so sad you have been so ill! I feel your pain, I have been too feeling prisoner to illness, and I can't even imagine trying to raise a child through that, I can barely be around any!
There are many illnesses that diet can help a LOT, but there are some that just need more. I am a big proponent of using both western and eastern or dietary methods, you just have to find what works. Sometimes something works for awhile too, then doesn't. You are so brave to try something intense but also smart for wanting to care for yourself and being open to all treatments. I have had to do infusions too, not too fun but at least I often got some trashy magazine reading done (hope they have some of those there for you). Try not to let others judge you, they have no idea what is going on. Hope the infusions start helping soon. xoxo
I'm so sorry you're going thru so much but hope the treatment helps and that you get all the support you need and deserve. Lots of love and healing thoughts coming you way!
Happy (belated) b-day to T and to you in a few days!
Sorry to hear you are suffering and hope you find some relief fast! I also appreciate your honesty. It's refreshing to hear the truth about what you are experiencing and how much the diet can help. I wish you a wonderful birthday including a nice dinner celebration out. Sometimes it's the simple things that we overlook, like being able to go out of the home and feel comfortable. Happy Birthdays all around!
Whatever path you're on may it soon lead you to optimal wellness. Sending much love your way.
Hugs from the Pacific Northwest.
All love,
