Going back to the long weekend, T and I had another date night (whoohoo, 3 in 9 months! Ha Ha!). We were still down at the shore visiting our family, so my parents took Baby A for an hour or so and we went to The Salt Creek Grille for dinner. My sister suggested going there because they have a few options that they easily make vegan for her. I started with the house salad (hold the cheese, please!). This had green apple, tomatoes, walnuts and a balsamic vinaigrette. As usual, I added lots of ground pepper! ;)
There wasn't anything on the menu that I could veganize for dessert, so instead we hit up the famous "Lighthouse". I spent many of my childhood/adolescent Summers eating Italian ice from there so I was pretty excited when my sister told me that the ices are vegan. Although, I did double check with the girl working the counter. ;) I had chocolate and peanut butter ice! Tasted exactly as I remember!
For dinner Monday night, MORE KALE! ;) We had Buddha Bowls: raw kale, avocado, tomatoes (from my sister's garden), olives and cooked millet with red kidney beans.
I made Baby A and I a delicious "mocktail" yesterday: cucumber and romaine. Mine was served in a martini glass, Baby A had hers in her new cup!
And finally, the people at Navitas Naturals sent me their new Power Snacks to sample. I am loving the Cacao Goji Superfood flavor! The Citrus Chia Superfood flavor is great too, I am just not too crazy about citrus in this kind of snack. But I love that they are raw, vegan, gluten free, high in fiber and vitamin C and contain no refined sugar! The perfect healthy snack for after my workout.
Have a great day all! XO

Your weekend sounds wonderful. How special that Baby A will have cherished memories of the shore as you did as a child. History repeating itself is a beautiful thing. Loved all of your pics, everything looked so fresh and yummy! That italian ice sounded so scrumptious! As always, thanks for sharing a piece of your world with us! xo
good for you getting those date nights in. get them while you can!
a lot of the gelatos in france we had were vegan. we really lucked out. most of the fruit kinds were. i had to learn a lot of vocab to be sure. :-)
The citrus flavor sounds really interesting! I love your flexibility in being able to eat out - I usually get too flustered to ask to leave stuff out or off...
so cool you got to enjoy a childhood favorite dessert and that is was vegan :) looked great

Good to know about Salt Creek Grille! I too love Lighthouse Ice and didn't know it was vegan. I'm trying to stay away from sugar but maybe I can splurge once in a blue moon. :)
I love when you can just tell a waiter your dietary preference and they just "get" it without making a confused face.
I love that Baby A enjoyed a cucumber romaine mocktail with you. If I ever have a child, one can only hope he/she loves green juicy goodness.
