Do you know how fabulous coconut oil is? I have a new found love for the stuff. I have been using it on my skin and hair for a couple of years now, but I barely used it to cook (or un-cook). When Tropical Traditions sent me a sample to review, I decided to use it on more then just my hair.

| I usually use Olive Oil when cooking, I am Italian, and it's the only oil my family ever used, so I used it out of habit. I thought that coconut oil would make my food taste like coconut. Boy was I wrong. Tropical Traditions has a buttery rich taste. I add it to my grains, beans, massaged kale salads (the best part of using it while massaging is how soft it makes your hands), cooked vegetables, spread on gluten free bread. YUM! I have a new obsession (move over Bubbies and Sunshine Burgers!). ;) The more I learn about coconut oil, the more I want to use it over any other oil. Coconut oil has a higher smoke point, so it won't go rancid like olive oil does when cooking at a high temperature (like on my sweet potato fries or when sauteing veggies!). |
Tropical Traditions has high standards, check out this info from their website:
"We have a strong commitment to family farming and organic standards. We stand firmly against genetically modified foods (No GMOs). But the organic label is not enough for us. We research and find out where the products are produced, and how they are produced. We find that some organic standards too loose for our trust, so we look beyond what is claimed on a label. We find out as much as possible about those who provide the products. And if a certain quality of product does not exist, we will work with others to produce that product and offer it to our consumers. We did that with Virgin Coconut Oil in the Philippines, and we have done the same thing since coming back to live here in the US."
LOVE IT!!!!!
If you don't already use coconut oil on your food, give it a try. Even T is a fan! ;)
Disclaimer: Tropical Traditions provided me with a free sample of this product to review, and I was under no obligation to review it if I so chose. Nor was I under any obligation to write a positive review or sponsor a product giveaway in return for the free product.

YUM! I love coconut oil too the good kinds really DO taste like butter...(but better! (;)
I use the Virgin oil de cococ-creme (the one they sell on oneluckyduck.com! I love it!
I put it in my smoothies and use it to make raw chocolate, ice cream, and fudge. I should try cooking with it. I bet it's awesome with veggies.
wow that's good to know that it isn't overly strong in coconut flavor-as sometimes the raw cheezecakes really have strong coconut flavor-LOVE coconut oil!
I love using coconut oil when cooking. I alternate between olive oil and coconut, but more and more the olive oil is moving to the back of the shelf...I will have to try this brand! :) I've been looking for a good one.
love love coconut oil! use it for everything

D'oh! I passed on buying some coconut butter for half price today because I wasn't sure I would find a use for it! Turns out there are a ton of uses.
I love using coconut oil on my sweet potato and carrot fries, too! I'm also Italian and always used to use olive oil for everything, but coconut oil is so much lighter and the smell is to die for!
i like their coconut oil and probably 805 of their products but i am mad they sell collostrum. i hope they see that it upsets vegans and its not good for baby cows and cut it from the product line.
we use coconut oil for everything and right now it's a big jar of tropical traditions! it's great on toast instead of butter and in smoothies and everything else. :)
