In my last post, I was asked about the variety of kale that we are growing. It is red kale, not sure why it doesn't look or feel as rough as the kind you buy in the store, but I am not complaining. The flavor is all there! :) Speaking of my garden. I harvested lettuce for lunch all week.
Less then 20 minutes after harvesting the lettuce I had this lovely salad: Sunshine Burger, hummus, Bubbies. YUM! Doesn't get any fresher then that!
Last weekend at the health food store I picked up this WildBar. They are raw, vegan and organic. Oh and super tasty! So chocolaty with little spice.
Have a great weekend!

I always love the local booches too. I have heard of that Cashew ICe cream, hope it was worth the price!
Have a super weekend!
i love mayan spice wild bar! you just made me homesick. would pick one up for lunch right before class when i was still out east! ps - i love your blog. so glad to have stumbled upon it. cheers!
Mmm... The Mayan Spice Wild Bar is SO GOOD! I just wish they weren't so expensive!
Your food looks so yummy! I chatted with you a while back on twitter (veggiegirlie)... I have Crohn's and haven't had any flare ups in the last (almost) 2 years after going vegan. I have done a lot of nutrition-related research, but never thought about romaine (other than a salad base). I read 'Crazy Sexy Diet' and now have become intrigued... what health benefits does it have? Do you find it helps you with Crohn's?
Keep up the awesome blogging!
xoxo
Thanks Jacquelynn! So happy to hear you've been so well! Do you take any meds?
Not sure what you mean about the romaine, I just eat it for salads and juice it. Mostly because its yummy and healthy! Gotta get lots of green for healing! :)
There was a super local kombucha at a Whole Foods I went to in Cambridge, Ma last week. It even came in mason jars. SO exciting! My greens haven't been growing so well... maybe I started me seeds too late, I might have to resort to the organic starters. Oh my gosh wild bars are great! pretty expensive so they are a rare treat for me. Everything else looks wonderful, and best to you!
Sunshine burgers in salad are so good, especially on fresh lettuce. Yum!
Oh, I'm a big fan of those Wild Bars, too.
I've never seen that brand of kombucha. I like the sound of that flavor, though.
Looks like a great week. I am so glad someone is having sun and warmer weather. I am in the middle of a week of rain. However maybe some ice cream would be good. I don't think we have that one here. The best I can find is coconut based. Thanks for sharing all your treats.
re: romaine, I just didn't realize it had as much nutrient/green power as it does... I love that I get more juice out of those leaves where some greens don't produce as much.
I haven't been on meds for a little over a year now... so excited about that. For the last ten years I was off/on lots of different, but the best that really helped me heal the last 6 or so years was the combo of Asacol and Imuran. When I would have flare ups, I would do a short burst of Prednisone. It was great while on it, but I would get breakouts coming off of it. But, once I started the Asacol/Imuran combo, I only had to have Prednisone once or twice. The Asacol alone didn't work as good as when I added the Imuran.
I know what you mean about emotions affecting it. I think stress was/is one of the major triggers for me. I was nervous about all the moving, job changing, etc. lately, but so far so good. (then there's stressing about getting stressed, ha!)
What meds do you take? I would love to chat more about it!
Hi Jacquelynn, I'd love to chat more, email me: laurengingerrose@gmail.com :)
