Over the weekend, we went down to the shore for my Mother-in-law's birthday. We got down just in time for lunch so we hit up our favorite health food store. I had a collard wrap (sprouts, purple cabbage, carrots, tomato, raw cashew mayo)...
| And some raw veggies with hummus. They make the hummus fresh and it was really tasty! |
| I can't believe that I ate at 2 vegan restaurants this past weekend and wasn't served a lettuce leaf and told it was my "vegan meal!" LOL! Sadly, when the chef doesn't know what to do, they are afraid to add a little flavor. Sometimes I think they assume vegans don't eat much-- hence the small portions. That is why I always make sure to tell the waiter to "double up on the veg" or that they don't have "skimp on the veggies!" What are your experiences when eating at non-vegan restaurants? Gena had a great post on this topic recently! Have a great day all! |

The salad and escarole look awesome. I think the wraps would be a bit too much chewing for me and my easily strained jaw muscle. :D Funny how it doesn't affect my talking... :P
I love the look of those collard wraps, I've got to get back in the habit of making them
Thanks for sharing. The wrap looks great. I haven't made one in a while. I find sometimes the options are not really options but like you said, just a leaf and something really not that great.
I think it really depends on the person and the willingness to create. Either they may feel creative in the kitchen and you get something great, or they feel like it is a burden and you get...well a leaf of lettuce.:)
That cheezy dip looks really yummy!! My mouth is watering!
Delicious looking collard wraps. I think I need to whip some up. Great that you can find that locally.
Glad you are not starving in restaurants. Maybe the world is finally getting us.
