My Baby Shower

Hey All! Thank you for being so patient, I was going to post about my baby shower yesterday, but the pictures my sister sent aren't coming through, so I'd thought I'd wait. But since they still aren't coming, I will have to post some of the pictures I took. I will post hers once I get them! I believe she has a picture of me and Maria! I was so glad she was able to attend (she lives near my parents).

Anyway, here is a picture of the lovely center pieces that were on the table. Pink of course!
And here is the tent outside on my parents deck, all decorated. You can see a lot of people attended. I think it was around 50. I am so lucky to have so many loved ones that care about me!
Inside my Mom and Sister (who both threw me the party) decorated with lots of butterflies and pink (two of my favorite things and of course, the theme for the baby's room). On the left is a baby pic of T and on the right a baby pic of me!
Look at all of those presents! Yippy, my baby and I are blessed! We got just about everything we needed!!
Onto food, I started off with some appetizers: hummus, bean salad and artichoke salad. The big black thing is an olive believe it or not! HA!
We also had vegan wraps (sorry, as you can see, by the time I got to them a few were already taken). These were filled with raw veggies, hummus and avocado.
There was non-vegan food as well, that I didn't take pictures of. But this was my favorite: broccoli rabe and pasta. My Mother in law made this, she is a vegan, so her food is always vegan, and delicious!
This was the non-vegan cake. I thought I'd share a picture because it was so pretty!
And my favorite part of the day: vegan cupcakes! Aren't these adorable? My future sister in law (who is vegan also) hooked me up!! They were from Papa Ganache and they were so amazing!
In other vegan desserts, a watermelon basket with melon balls inside. Mmm..
And finally, the picture you've all been waiting for! :) Me and my grandma (she'd kill me if she knew I posted this). Yes, I am large and swollen and I've gained waaaay to much weight. But I am happy and that's all that matters! :) T bought me the beautiful corsage I have on. By the way, this is the grandma that makes juice (grapefruit and orange) every morning and still goes to Jazzercise at 81 years old!
And a little bonus, since you all were so patient, I went to the doctor yesterday to monitor the baby's growth (something that is very important when you have Crohn's, which is why I haven't turned down any ultrasounds). Anyway, she is right on target: 3lbs 13oz and 2 months to go! She is already head down too! Her little foot was near her head again, I tell ya, she is a yogi!
Have a great day everyone!!!

Hi Lauren,

I don't think I've ever commented, but I have subcribed to your blog via Google Reader and I have been reading it religiously for awhile now.

Anyway, I wanted to comment today to tell you that you look great and not to worry about the weight etc. I gained 65 lbs when I was pregnant because I wanted my baby to eat (I will do things a little different next time, but its hard to know with your first!) and by the end I was SO swollen and SO big. My baby however (he is 15 months) is healthy and beautiful and I have lost all but 5 pesky lbs (I think eating vegan helps with this a LOT).

I'm sure others have told you these things too, but I thought I'd add mine as well. :) So don't worry. You are doing a great job and think of how comfy and nourished your Starshine is in there. :) It will all come off later.

You look beautiful. :)

Good luck with everything, can't wait to hear how the rest goes.

LOVE the pics! Yay for healthy baby... no much longer now!

You're so lucky that your MIL is vegan. Wish mine was... I think bacon grease is her middle name. lol.

xoxo,
Kristen

PS did you get your ergo?

Yes, don't worry about the weight! You look gorgeous and sexy!

Plus, it'll fall off effortlessly. I lost it all in well under 3 months (while still eating a lot) and not exercising. Breastfeeding is amazing for that!

Everything looks great - perfect combo for a baby shower. Glad you had fun and were surrounded by so many loved ones. Enjoy these last two months!

50 people! Wow! What a celebration! The cupcakes look great and I'm so happy you had plenty of food options. And the watermelon basket is adorable too. Were any men there? I didn't see any in the pics.

That is so great some of your family members get your diet and that your MIL is vegan too. No wonder T is so supportive.

I love your pic and think you look great. I love pics of pregnant women. I think you look gorgeous. So much for the girl stealing the mom's beauty...you still got it!

Thanks for sharing this with us. xoxo

Wow, that is one amazing baby shower. My fiance and I are having our first wedding shower in two weeks. I don't think it will be that decorative, but one can only hope. A family friend is planning it.

OMG! That was a real par-tay!!! How fun to have so many vegans in your family! Grandma looks/sounds like a real 'hoot', and you look sooo beautiful! I'm sure you must be happy that you are healthy and baby is healthy, as I am sure I don't have to remind you that it could be far worse (like Crohn's problems and skinny Lauren and skinny baby!).

Hi! I've never posted on your blog before but I love following it! I'm a gluten-free vegan that just so happens to be pregnant too (probably why I love your blog sooo much!). Although I'm only 3 months into it, I can see what you mean about the weight issue. I feel like I started to "show" at about 10 weeks and people were freaking out "Oh my gosh you're showing already?" Ugh...annoying! Now that I'm 3 months, it seems much more reasonable to see the bump but still I just feel like saying, "Who cares if I'm showing as long as my baby is healthy...besides-I'm 3 months pregnant!"
I just think it's interesting that everyone seems to have an ideal timeline in their head about how much weight you should gain and when you should gain it. Like you said, as long as they baby's healthy...who cares! Anyways, you're shower looked great and congrats on your future baby girl! My hubby and I can't wait to find out what we're having!( :

Lauren, you look absolutely gorgeous! You're glowing, and you don't look huge OR swollen! You look like a healthy, proud mama-to-be. I understand how growing ANOTHER PERSON inside of you might make you feel all out of sorts, but rest assured that you look wonderful. :)

Thank you for sharing this special day with us! It looks like a lovely shower. What the H is with you having all these vegans in your family?! Greedy, greedy. ;-) I thought *I* was lucky having veg-curious people in my family. Haha. No, that's fabulous, though. Those cupcakes look AWESOME!! Congrats on getting all those gifts, too! You, your hubby, and your baby girl are certainly blessed!
