When Life Hands You Cherries.. make Lemonade?
Hello Buttercups! I hope you all are having a great week! Today I'm going to see the "baby doc" just for a little check up. Next month we get to find out the sex, so T and I are hoping we'd be able to see something today instead! :) Wishful thinking! I'm just about 4 months along now and feeling really good. I've had a lot of pain in my back and rib cage lately. From what I read, my little Starshine is making room for his/herself. I'm having issues getting comfortable, mostly while sleeping, but pillows definitely help! Oh and prenatal yoga! YUM! Love it!
Anyway, speaking of yum, another fruit plate for you all: Cantaloupe! I ate a whole cantaloupe as a snack the other day! Fruit is so unbelievable to me right now, I don't crave any sugar.. just fruit! I'll take a bowl of fresh watermelon over a bowl of vegan ice cream any day!
I've been adding beans to things a lot lately. In the second trimester they really push protein, so just to make sure I have all my bases covered, I've been eating more beans and having an extra scoop of Sunwarrior in my green smoothies. This salad was kale (from my garden), white beans, cherry tomatoes, sundried tomatoes, lemon juice and olive oil.
Look what our cherry tree gave us!!! Cherries!!! We planted the tree last Spring so this is the first time it is producing fruit! These are nice and tangy! Mmmm!
I made Cherry Stevia Lemonade with them: One Lemon, One Stevia, 3 Cherries chopped up on bottom, served over ice. YUM!
Last night I made a big pot of lentils with broccoli, chickpeas and potatoes. This was a "clean out the cabinet" meal. I mashed everything up to make it more of a puree and sprinkled some Nutritional Yeast on top.
I also received an order I placed with The Raw Food World Store. Finally.. KELP NOODLES! I am having these tonight! I'll post about that on Friday.
And a 4 pack of Cacao L.O.V.E. Cups! Dark Cacao, Almond Cacao, Coconut Cacao and Pecan Cacao.
This was the Almond Cacao Cup! YUM!
And the Dark Chocolate Cacao Cup.. (sorry for the blurry pic).
I'm sure I will eat the other two before the weekend is over! He he! :) Have a great day everyone!

Cherries from your very own tree...wonderful!
I've been adding black-eyed peas to my salads and loving them. Just adds enough "something" to keep me full.

Hope you get a sneak peak at the baby. That is always so much fun.

I'm with you on the fruit -- I crave it daily! Lucky for you and I, it's fruit season! We can feed our baby-bellies all the fruit we want :)
I saw those cacao cups in Matt's last newsletter! Darn, wish I'd ordered some. Now I'm craving them! Blurry or not, the photo still makes it look delicious :)
Lucky you to have a fig tree AND a cherry tree!
Your cherry lemonade sounds so refreshing, and the cherries are so pretty! I am waiting to see what you do with the kelp noodles, too. You sure find the most amazing snacks:)
sorry you wee starshine is making you a bit uncomfortable at times - i hope things settle down super soon & you're feeling more comfortable all the time quickly. yoga is the best, and so is all that fresh fruit. mmm, mmmmm! the l.o.v.e. cups all look so delicious and i'm really loving your lentil-broccoli-chicker-potato soup. it sounds tasty & comforting - and so are your beans 'n kale. i'm interested to hear about how you like the kelp noodles. i actually just had zoodles with raw marinara today for my lunch - i've been seeing all the high raw goodies you've been eating and wanted to incorporate more into my eatz lately as well. hope your appointment goes well, Lauren - i know it will! :D
Those L.O.V.E cups look DELISH!
Ouch about the rib pains. Hope things adjust and settle down soon.
Great idea for cherries and lemonade. I like stevia with tart stuff.
Can't wait to see your kelp noodle creation! I am planning on having some tonight.
Congratulations on your special little one soon to be in your arms. The struggles are worth it, as I am sure you are aware of. I look forward to following you. You have some great recipe ideas! I love cherries and love your cherry lemonade idea! Have you ever had lavender lemonade? It's all so good when made with stevia. You are doing a great job for your body! You are awesome!
So excited for you to find the sex of baby!!! And yay for kelp noodles, I hope you like them as much as we do :)
Pure2Raw Twins

I have to say, I really want to try kelp noodles but everytime I go to order them online I'm put off by the price. Maybe one day I will buy them.

YuuuuUUUUUmmmmm to all on this post! The soup looks delicious, the bean meal looks great, and those cacao things look AMAZING. Mmmmmmm!
Oh, and just to let you know, those kelp noodles are the best things ever! No flavor at all but a great vehicle for all things sauce! Really good with hummus and salad... just my opinion... ;)
And I think it's a boy.
Those choco cups look fab! I want them! And ooh, so glad you get to try the kelp noodles. I'll be interested what you think. Which reminds me, I have some in the fridge to eat up. Cool you've got a cherry tree! I love fresh cherries and your lemonade looks refreshing esp with the cherry on top. ;) I'm going to guess girl too (is anyone guessing boy?), either way you'll be a great mom. P.S. Boys are awesome! ;)
Lauren, I would like to be your unborn child, so that I could eat and drink these amazing meals with you.
OK, that sounded gross.
