Pure Market Express Review

Hey All! I usually don't post on Tuesday, but I have a special review post I wanted to share. In fact, I have a few reviews coming up, so every week, either Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday, for the next couple of weeks, I am going to try to post a review. This time I was lucky enough to receive a package of raw prepared food from Pure Market Express!
All raw, all vegan: Raw Corn Chips, Bac'un Jalapeno Poppers, Chocolate Cheesecake and Lasagna.
Here are the corn chips, as you can imagine, I dug right in! These were so delicious on there own, but I did add them to a few different things too..
A kale salad with corn chips and avocado..yum! I also enjoyed dipping them in guacamole. I wish I had salsa, that would of been amazing! But I finished them off before I got to pick some up (or make some).
My favorite were the Bac'un Jalepeno Poppers! Holy crap! These are amazing!!! I thought they might be too spicy for my sensitive belly, but nope.. the jalapeno really wasn't hot at all. The cream cheese type of filling was so rich and delicious, I was licking the container where it had smeared! They used eggplant bacon for the "bac'un" which I have never made myself, but will be after having it on these. A+!
The Chocolate Cheesecake was a wonderful rich dessert. I seriously ate this whole slice in minutes. So creamy and decadent! I can't believe this wasn't made right in front of me. I didn't even enjoy it on the day it came and it was still unbelievably fresh and moist.
Lastly, the lasagna. I am usually not a fan of raw lasagna (I know, I am crazy!). But this one I actually liked! I was really surprised at how un-raw it tasted. Lots of flavor, creamy, rich, indulgent. Mm!
Pure Market Express is great for anyone!! I really enjoyed not having to worry about what I was going to make, or dehydrate, or how long it was going to take (hey, I am pregnant!). They are the perfect resource for after I have my baby and I want to eat raw but might not have the time to prepare it. Or if you just don't have the time to be in the kitchen and want to be able to eat gourmet, fresh, raw food. Most of the stuff lasted a week or so too, so you don't have to worry about eating it right away. They have a large variety on their menu with things like pancakes, coconut yogurt, fried rice, macaroni and cheese, corn chowder, definitely something for everyone! I love this company and what they stand for. Thank you Pure Market Express! I will be ordering from you soon (did someone say chocolate chip cookies, apple pie, tostadas and macaroons?) All my favorites!

Lauren,

No I haven't, but I am sure they are good if the jalepeno poppers were good! I want to order some stuff on their site, but I am not sure yet if they ship to Hawaii.

Lauren said...

Carissa, oh yes, duh, yes that was amazing! I wonder though if it's the same as the cheese they sell. It was like a cream cheese..hmm.. if they ship to Hawaii I want to see your review! That way I know what else to get from them! ;)

Pure Market Express is practically in my parents' backyard, so I've been to their store a few times. Everything I've had is GREAT!! Those jalapeno poppers are absolutely amazing. Yum, now I want some & I haven't even had breakfast! :)

Their desserts are really great, too.

I see that someone asked about the cheese, and aside from the cream cheese in the Poppers, I have had their "Better than Gouda." It's a smokey yellow "cheese" that is spreadable (not sliceable), and the flavor is delicious. Love that stuff!

My co-op was carrying PME products for awhile, but when I went to the area where their refrigerated case has been, there was a note saying "Due to improper labeling of ingredient & nutritional information, we will no longer be carrying PME items." Yikes!! I need to find out what that's all about because the products are delicious...

I love your blog! I am a blogger as well, and I was wondering how you got into doing product reviews?? I would love to do product reviews, but I wasn't sure how to get that going.

Thanks so much!

Hi Everyone - I'm Chef Rebecca from Pure Market Express. Just wanted to thank Lauren for a great review of our yummy food and give y'all the low down on a few of your questions.

Right now we can only ship dry goods such as our yummy cookies, crackers, chips, Goji Trail and grawnolas to Canada. :0( We would love to do more the customs is pretty strict right now.

We would definitely ship to Hawaii but I think the cost might be restrictive? Get in touch with me if your interested and I can get a quote for you. Typically our shipping costs run between $20 and $45 depending on how many items you order which is on average a little less than $2 per item.

Jess - we were disappointed that Lakewinds decided to stop carrying our line. The reason the store gave US is that there weren't enough sales to justify the space in the store which was a bummer but understandable. Not sure about the nutrition comment since they know we are in the process of having each dish indpendently double checked for accuracy. But if you ever have any questions or concerns, give me a call or stop by. We have an open kitchen and I'd love to show you around.

As for organic ingredients, we try to source as many things organically as possible. However, there are some things such as our young Thai coconuts which aren't available wholesale right now certified organic. So we make sure they are not sprayed or dipped and will certainly source them organically as soon as we can. Also in this lovely time of year we source many of our veggies from local farmers who may not be certified organic but do follow organic practices. It is so cool to meet the farmers and walk the fields with them! For us, it is important to source the highest quality ingredients, locally if possible, organic whenever reasonably available.

I hope that answers some of the questions. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have more - I'm happy to help and we'd love to share our yuumy food with all of you!

Radiantly yours,

Chef Rebecca

Pure Market Express food is full of fats! As far as organic, most of it is not. And that's straight from a current employee I work with.

Hi everyone -

Just thought I'd add a couple of clarifications. Sue! So good to see you again (do we know each other? ;0)

Our food absolutely has natural sugars and natural fats as well. Our mission is to provide healthy, convenient food NOT perfect food. Fresh fruits and veggies are always best no doubt about it. However in the world we live in today with our hectic schedules, I personally found it hard to maintain a healthy diet without some semblence of ease and convenience. That is why we created Pure Market Express.

We want to provide a healthier, more convenient option especially for people who are still eating a SAD diet.

As far as organic, we have never claimed to be a completely organic facility. Especially now in the summer, we source much of our veggies through local farmers who may or may not be certified but we have been able to walk their fields and witness their practices. I personally believe high quality is paramount, then local if possible is so important, then organic.

As a young company, we are learning new things all the time especially in the area of what is required to retail products in co-ops. We appreciate all the patience and support we have gotten from the community as we continue to grow and serve by providing the healthiest convenient food possible.

Warm regards to all,

Chef Rebecca

I love Pure Market Express. :]

But, I have been wondering what's up with the nutritional info? Are the labels correct?

Sarah said...

^ Is anyone going to answer this?

Lauren said...

Hi Sarah, Obviously, I can not answer because I do not work for the company! Maybe you could email them yourself and find out! :)

Sorry about the delay. Six month pregnant and a buzzing kitchen have been keeping me away from the computer lately! ;0)

Thank so much for the question. I am sooo excited to say that due to a local partnership with a scientific food testing firm our nutrition labels are correct. Whoohooo!
