Memorial Day Weekend Adventures: Part 2
Hey Everyone! I hope you are having a super week! :) It is hot, hot, hot here! I've never been so hot. I guess it comes with the pregnancy territory! To continue on with my weekend post, we left off at the strawberry farm. We stopped by a great health food store in the area (that we visit often). I had a yummy salad with falafel and tahini for lunch!
I also snacked on these: Food Alive Onion Garlic Flax Crackers. These are VERY smelly! LOL, T wouldn't come near me after a few of these! Ha ha! But I did like them, they were kind of addictive!
I also picked up this cute little lip gloss: Booda Balm! 100% Pure natural ingredients and all vegan! I especially love the little Buddha on the front!
Now onto to the strawberries.. I made some yummy strawberry milk (which I used up in my smoothies in 2 days!). I just blended cashews, strawberries and almond milk with a little agave. YUM! We also made strawberry ice cream. I forgot to take pics, but I still have some, so that will be soon!
We harvested some kale from our garden! How beautiful is that!
I enjoyed this yummy salad with kale right from my garden on Sunday night. This had some more garlic and onion raw crackers, avocado, Bubbies, cherry tomatoes, and nutritional yeast. The kale was so tender and soft! I've never had kale so delicious! I have 6 more heads that are going to be cut in the next week for kale salad lunches and dinners.
Monday morning I used some of my strawberry milk to make this yummy smoothie. I also added some of the fresh picked strawberries (that I froze), a banana, Chia seeds, DHA oil, spinach, and Sunwarrior Protein.
After that we took Ginger for a nice morning walk to the park..
It became very hot on the way and T had to carry her most of the way home! LOL!!! Yes, I cut poor T's head off, I was trying to highlight the dramatic pug, not his charmingly good looks! :)
She was beyond exhausted.. poor thing! Pugs really don't like the heat, but she LOVES going on walks!
We also went to the garden center and I bought this little guy for my window sill. An aloe vera plant! Growing up my mother always rubbed fresh aloe on our faces, it's so refreshing! Especially after being outside all day!
Finally, to wrap up our LOOOONG weekend: brussell sprouts and quinoa. Simple and delicious! A perfect end to a perfect weekend!
I hope you all had a nice weekend. Today and yesterday were nice relaxing days at home! :) Nesting at it's best!

Cutest pug EVER - but that's well established by now, haha ;) Glad you had a nice, sunny, deliciously-filled Memorial Day weekend!
Everything your ate looks so refreshing and perfect for the heat wave we're all enduring. I'm glad you're feeling well and enjoying the sunshine!

hahah, that pug is awesome. i love how her tongue curls up, as if even her tongue is smiling :)
I'm drooling over your strawberries and salads! And my heart is melting over the cuteness of your pug. Look at that little face with tongue hanging out!
Still raining and 55 degrees here! I think you're getting all the summer :)
Adorable dog!
Feeling hot? Oh yes, I remember those days of thinking that as an "incubator" I was going to boil over. Lots and lots of liquids!
Strawberry milk is a great idea! I'll have to make some for the kids.
And that salad with falafel makes me hungry. ;-)
i love kale! it looks delicious! those crackers look yum too!
delicious week of good eats. 6 heads of kale? I'm jealous.
poor ginger in the heat. i have heard it's very hard on pugs.
Strawberry milk was my favorite when I was little, of course it was the kind filled with sugar! I will try your recipe, it looks great, and much healthier than the powdered stuff I drank as a child. :)
Delicious looking food! What a fun weekend!
That falafel & tahini salad looks AMAZING right now!!! I might have to have falafel for dinner...
I had some non-Ginger related comments, but that pic! Hahaha!! I'm too distracted now :D
I love the strawberry milk idea! Everything looks wonderful and refreshing, especially in the heat everyone seems to be having (it's still cool here for me~!)
Your posts always make me covet pugs.
I sure wish I could eat kale straight from a garden, looks amazing!!!
Yes Ginger is the cutest pug ever!
And brussel sprouts and quinoa... my two favs!! YUM!
Pure2raw twins

Such great eats girlie. I love all that kale in your garden.
K, your doggie is sooo cute, I'm such a dog fan - i can't imagine living without them.
When do we get to see a pic of your baby bump? Im anxiously waiting :)
Do you make your own falafel or do you buy a premade one?
Hi Carissa,
I make my own when I am eating at home, but this was from a vegan deli! :)
Ginger is such a little sweetheart!
All the goodies you have been enjoying sound delicious, especially the strawberry milk and ice cream.
Thanks for sharing your weekend adventures with us:)
I'm a huge pug fan and so is my family back home. Ginger is so adorable! Wish I could keep one but my apartment building in Tokyo forbids pets.
Just stumbled upon your lovely, cheery blog and am inspired by all the wonderful raw and vegan eats you made. You've got a brand new follower here :)
