Local Goods
Hello All! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! :) Mine was pretty good, although tiring. Sex and The City 2 was fabulous, and why wouldn't it be? I started watching Sex and The City in high school and I've been hooked ever since! Love those ladies! Have you seen it? What did you think? Anyway, besides that we were pretty busy most of the weekend. This little gal wasn't..
On Saturday for lunch, T and I went to Whole Foods. I grabbed lots of kale, raw red cabbage and beans from the salad bar. The kale was raw with avocado! Mmm! I squeezed some lemon on top, perfect!
My favorite treat, a delicious fruit plate! Organic strawberries (which are sooooo delicious right now) and 2 oranges.
On Sunday we went to the opening of a local Farmers Market. The weather was windy and hot, and it was opening weekend, so the offerings were slim. The organic stand only had herbs and kale (2 things I have in my own yard!), so I passed and picked up some local guacamole..
And some local bee pollen. For the record, I've said before, I do eat local bee products.
Last night I made the same delicious dish I made last week, minus the pasta and with spinach added in! YUM!!! This is my new favorite cooked Summer dish. Local asparagus, cherry tomatoes, white beans and spinach = DIVINE! I could go for some right now.. ha ha!
Have a great week everyone! I have a lot going on with some doctors appointments, graduation parties, taking Ginger for a check up! But the weather is going to be a lot cooler (like 70's), so I don't mind all the errands! XO

Hi.
Maria (going down swinging blog) told me about your blog. I have Ulcerative Colitis and have been struggling for some time with it, and I can see why she recommended your blog. Very inspiring! I haven't had the fortune of meeting anyone in 'real life' with my condition or one similar, so I am fascinated to see how someone else with IBD lives. I look forward to more entries. Thanks for making this blog :)

That's such a cute picture of your pug. Love it...
nothing tastes as awesome as local veggies! of course, unless they are your own veggies. super local! :) it's getting harder to find local kale here now that the weather is warming up.... but i'm making the most of what's left! yum!
Ginger looks a little sad that she wasn't as busy! ;) Glad to hear the weekend was busy and fun. Local eats are always a bonus and score on the guac! My fave! All looks good girl!
That white bean meal looks very good! That quacomole looks really fresh too! Yay for Farmers Markets.
So glad you liked the movie, I haven't seen it yet.
Lauren really I drool over that bean salad in both the posts!!
I guess I will making that sooner or later!!
lots of beans for baby! hope you are feeling ok these days.
ginger is too cute. :-)
I haven't seen Sex in the City yet..but I need to watch the first one still so I think I should start there:)
That whole foods salad looks so good..drool worthy for sure!
I love that asparagus dish it looks so good and summery!
Good luck with your busy week!
There was one unexpected portion of this post -- Your guac said MacArthur Rd in Whitehall! I live super close, in South Whitehall, about 5-10 minutes away from there. Where are you? And for the love of god, is there a secret Wholefoods nearby that I haven't found?
Hey Lori, I live in NJ, actually closer to NYC then PA. The company sells a lot of stuff in NJ and were at my Farmers Market. Sorry! :( I was surprised to that they were from PA, they did some traveling!
I loved the SATC tv show, but didn't get into the first movie much. I think I'll give the first one another shot and then try out the new one.
All the food looks wonderful ... now I'm going to have to make a fruit plate!
btw, your dog is adorable ... so much personality.
Your food always looks so good and I love your little Ginger! I'm off to see Sex & The City Tonight, can't wait! x
Ginger is adorable like usual ;)
Local bee pollen is great. We have a local bee and honey person here in NC, and they are great. And local guacamole, now that is something I could not pass up either, YUM!
And yay for sex and the city 2, still have not seen it yet, but hopefully soon.

That fruit looks sooo delicious!
Everything you have been eating looks so beautiful and so healthy, but I guess that's the idea...haha!
Love that pic of Ginger, and the one in the sidebar with you kissing her:)
Glad the weather will be nice for your busy week.
oh wow - you're one busy bee, Lauren! i hear ya on errands not being too bad when it's nice out. i hate driving around in the heat, 'cause i'm the kinda girl who doesn't like to use the air conditioning in my car much. ah ha ha!
hooray for a delicious whole foods meal, and our fruit platters always get my cravings for fresh fruit go'n. yum! so awesome on your remaking your ever-so excellent pasta, and i loooove the addition of spinach. what a super tasty touch!
I love Whole Foods salad bar! Yum. That's a favorite place for us to eat at as a family. Something for everyone!
Your dinner looks amazing, and for just having 4 ingredients, it's a simple but fancy looking meal. Thanks for the idea, I am now craving it :)
Ginger is adorable vegging on the couch!
I actually really liked "SatC2," and I think it's because I had low expectations. I HATEDHATEDHATED the first movie, even though I LOVE the series, so I was very pleasantly surprised by the sequel. The first movie was so dark & depressing, and this one was upbeat & fun! :) Yeah, it was silly & bordering on stupid, but it was a fun movie-going experience, and that's all I wanted!
Ginger is so damn cute!
The weather's actually much cooler here this week too. ThankyoubabyJesus! I'm looking forward to being outdoors again. Not a big fan of the humidity. Give me mid-70s, a warm breeze, blue skies, and I'm a happy camper.
I have yet to see SATC 2. Kept saying I was going to treat myself to a matinee last week when the temps were so unbearable, but never did. All the critics have panned it, but I won't let that deter me from hanging out with Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha.
I love eating local. Sometimes when I'm at the store, I'll be checking out some raw chips and hemming and hawing and bein' like, Dammit... they are so expensive... but I want them sooo bad.
As a home cook, you start to realize WHY this stuff is so expensive. It costs a lot to start and run a business. That's why it's so worth it to support these peeps!
