Food is Great!
Happy Friday Everyone! Everything went well at the doctor. We didn't get to see our little starshine, so we still have to wait 4!!!! weeks to find out the sex. We did hear the heartbeat on the Doppler and the baby was kicking! It sounded so funny, my doctor said "You'll be feeling that soon!" Ha ha! I can't wait!
Anyway, I am going to really disappoint you all.. I didn't make the kelp noodles. I got intimidated! But, I put them on my menu for next week, so you will be seeing them! I am thinking a cheesy type of sauce for on top! I think the ladies at Pure2Raw have a yummy recipe I will use as a guideline.
This was a delicious kale salad I enjoyed the other day. I added raw kraut, raw pickles, avocado, cherry tomatoes and a crumbled up Sunshine Burger! So fulfilling!
And of course, a fruit plate. This was an organic mango! So juicy and ripe! Oh my gosh did I enjoy this!
I also have been snacking on one of my favorite dried fruits: mulberries! We have a mulberry tree that hangs in our yard (it's our neighbors). I wish I could climb up and grab some! We use to eat them off my grandparents tree all the time growing up. Nostalgia food is the best!
Of course I enjoyed another Cacao L.O.V.E Cup! This was the coconut flavor. Only one left! Eeek! :(
I made some Noritos! These took almost 2 days in the dehydrator but well worth it! They remind me a lot of Doritos, but of course 100,000 times healthier and better! I love when raw food is better then the real thing..err..fake thing!
My nightly bowl of watermelon. Yes, I pretty much eat this much watermelon before bed every night. My bladder isn't a fan, but I can't resist. I just love watermelon so much right now! My top 3 cravings so far are: Kale, Watermelon and Avocados. Avocado is a new one, I have always LOVED them, but now I can't get enough! I go through 2 a day! Mmm!
Check out Nelly's giveaway for Ani Phyo's latest book: Ani's Raw Food Essentials! I've been trying to win this book left and right!!! Ani is my favorite raw chef, and the first ever raw book I bought was Ani's Raw Food Kitchen! I've probably made the most raw recipes from that book. She is a goddess! :) Anyway, if I don't win, I will have to order it, so either way I win! He he! ;)
Today I am going to my salon for a hair cut and manicure and pedicure (first one since being pregnant). Even though my salon uses only green products I was still skeptical about going in the first trimester. But I am bring my Zoya polish (pregnancy approved!). We have my little brother in laws graduation dinner tonight. The Italian restaurant we are going to, told my mother in law to have me bring my own gluten free pasta! So I'll be having Tinkyada with veggies! YUM! Have a great weekend!
P.S. Check out my guest blog over at Cook.Vegan.Lover! :)

So glad the baby is doing well.. Gosh what a journey!
You are so after my heart!! Mango, watermelon and Avo...
This post was a serious feast for the foodie!!
I have been craving Avo as well.. Not that I am preg or anything!!n
Enjoy your time getting all dolled up at the salon! It feels so nice to walk out all done up :)
four more weeks huh? That's a long wait (or seems like it sometimes) but it's so exciting!!! And those are some of my favorite moments while pg is hearing the heartbeat. Loved it! Oh those sunshine burgers..well you know how I feel about them and that mango looks perfect! Have fun at dinner (cool you can bring your own pasta).
I am dying for you to try my sunshine burgers, so that I can hear what you think!
I have an overdue kelp noodle recipe to make, too. As usual -- we're twins. Ha!
That will be a well deserved treat to get your hair done, pedicure and manicure. Pedicures are the best when pregnant.
Nostalgia food is the best, for me it's pomegranates from my grandparents tree. Those dried mulberries sound good.
How exciting to hear your babies heart beat.
I've been eyeing the kelp noodles at our store as well, I've seen quite a few intriguing recipes using them.
Have a fabulous weekend!
Have fun getting pampered! It's always good to have "me" time!
Can't wait to find out if the new addition is a little lady or little man..very exciting!!
I so want that salad..yum! I need to try the kraut thing, I am way behind the times lol!
Have a fab dinner out, too!
yummy! kale salad with avocado, pickles and green olives is my newest fave. you'd think i was pregnant, too!
glad to hear everything went well with your lil' ss.=)
great guest post! you are doing great, momma!=)
(oh, and thanks for the reminder to make the noritos! i LOVE the raw seed - i recently won their ebook. it's so great, i am going to host a giveaway for a copy soon.=)
enjoy your weekend!
Sorry about not finding out the sex! Though glad to see everything is going well :)
Kelp noodles can be scary at first, but once you work with them a few times you will get the hang of them ;) Let us know if you have any questions!!! xoxo
I'm having a mini battle with the birds at the moment. They're gobbling up all the berries off my mulberry tree before they even have a chance to ripen (and, before I get to taste any!). Boo hiss!
I looooooooove me some kelp noodles. Mermaid pasta, I call it! I'll even share with you one of my most favorite recipes: Mermaid Pasta with Veggies.
♫ The seaweed is always greener
In somebody else's lake
You dream about going up there
But that is a big mistake
Just look at the world around you
Right here on the ocean floor
Such wonderful things surround you
What more is you lookin' for?
Under the sea
Under the sea
Darling it's better
Down where it's wetter
Take it from me
Up on the shore they work all day
Out in the sun they slave away
While we devotin'
Full time to floatin'
Under the sea ♫
You're gonna have to learn these Disney songs, darlin', when the lil' diva starshine makes her appearance. Yup, I'm still putting my money on a girlie girl...just like her mama... Enjoy your mani + pedi! ツ
Don't be intimidated of the noodles! I usually open them, rinse them well, then cut them up a bit. Then use at regular noodles.
Good news that baby is doing well.
I want to make noritos now!
Ah! hehe, we're on the same wavelength with the mulberries!
Oh girlie, it's so exciting to hear about baby! Im so happy for you guys.
Kelp noodles, easy peasy - rinse and add whatever sauce you like. Ive been wanting to make the noritos too - they look soo good!
Have a wonderful weekend, lots of love!
love the noritos - they look so perfect. i have to give these a try.
and we have like 8 mulberry trees that i've been 'harvesting' from... yumm green smoothies!
I've just bought ani's new book and it is awesome! I'm going to try some recipes out this weekend.
My favourite dried fruit has to be non-sulphur apricots. Love them. Oh, and medjool dates. Both I find quite chocolatey.
Just read your great guest post too. It must be such a relief that your doctor is supporting your veganism. x
so very awesome on getting to hear your starshine's heartbeat and them kicking around. that makes me so happyfaced! hoooooray for mulberries, mango, watermelon, and one delicious and filling kale salad. aren't sunshine burgers the yummiest?! i just made some of Gena's raw ones and picked up some frozen ones from the store as well. hope you had a delicious and fun time at the graduation dinner. enjoy your weekend, Lauren!
I just now stumbled across your blog and had to leave a comment to let you know how much your lovely pictures have got my mouth watering. I have to try some of this stuff!!
Also, congratulations on your new little one! How exciting that you get to find out the gender soon.
Anyway, thank you for sharing your food knowledge with us! I'm not familiar with vegan eating, but am looking forward to trying some of the delicious dishes you highlight here.
Gorgeous eats!!!
It's the coolest feeling when you feel your baby move. Ever since I could feel the first movements, it's been almost non-stop, literally, this baby rarely sleeps. Must be all the healthy food, err chocolate, I eat - lol.
mmm watermelon.... yum!!! I need to go to whole foods today and stock up on some of that plus organic blueberries and organic raspberries. YUM!
Hey! I used to eat mulberries off my grandparents tree too! Wowee, how cool is that!!! Oh and the kelp noodles? Don't let them worry you. They are easy peasy, Japanesey ;) I usually make this sauce from Gena at Choosing Raw with mine and they are delicious!
