Nourishing my Baby with High Raw!

Happy Wednesday All! We saw our little peanut yesterday and it was amazing! :) The doctor said everything looked good and the baby had a lot of growth. Yay! The heart rate was 173 BPM and that baby was jammin'! It was moving all over, we said it was doing "the worm" LOL! So cute. Cutest thing I have ever seen. Next time we go back we will be able to find out the sex! Probably about a month or so. I can't wait!

Anyway, food is amazing again and I've been feeling so great on high raw. My doctor mentioned my iron levels were low, but nothing to worry about. He said to make sure I get those vegan sources, all suggestions welcome!

This was a diesel salad I made for lunch: kale, avocado, raw crackers, olive tapenade, raw sauerkraut, raw pickles, hemp seeds, olive oil and lemon. What a meal!
I enjoyed my favorite raw dinner the other night: Rawcos! I added avocado and Kristen's Cheezy Hemp Sauce on top! Mmm, that stuff is the best, I especially love it the next day! You must make it if you haven't already.
For a night time treat, I had a big mug of "Morning Wellness Pregnancy Tea" from Earth Mama Organics. I am going to be having an awesome giveaway with one of there products soon! :) I also enjoyed 2 raw vegan lemon ginger macaroons. Raw macaroons are my favorite.. ever! Yum!
Yesterday morning I made the most amazing mint smoothie: 20 mint leaves, 1 whole Thai coconut meat and water, 1 scoop of Sunwarrior protein (or vanilla extract if you'd like), 2 frozen bananas, 4 dates, 1 tablespoons of spirulina, 2 tablespoons of chia seeds (optional) and as much ice as you want. Mix it all up and enjoy! A nice addition would be cacao nibs, I left them out. You can also add almond milk to make it as thin or thick as you would like. Someone had asked me what I thought of Sunwarrior protein and I wanted to let you all know, I love the stuff! I need the extra protein for my pregnancy and crohn's, so I find it important to me and the taste is amazing! I highly recommend it (both chocolate and vanilla).
A little pre-doctor snack yesterday: Brad's Raw Chips in Kale Flavor, Livin Spoonful Raw Crackers and Go Raw Pizza Flax crackers with a big scoop of hummus. Mmmm.. amazing!
Speaking of amazing: Falafel Sunshine Burgers! I had them on romaine leaves with hummus, raw pickles, raw sauerkraut and some more of Kristen's Cheezy Hemp Sauce. Protein and Iron? Check!
Have a nice day everyone! I promise my choccie post with be up on Friday! See you then!

I think we have the same taste buds! I would love to eat all of your food =) That hemp sauce is so yummy! How fun to check in on the baby, my SIL let me in on her ultrasound this week and it was so amazing. I think babe was doing the worm to celebrate all the good nutrition you are supplying =)

Looks like you are taking fantastic care of yourself.

A few iron-rich suggestions:
dandelion, parsley and spinach, and red watermelon (highest iron content of any fruit!)

Keep up the good work!

You're amazing! Heidi and I did high raw for bambino in utero and it really paid off. Heidi tried everything with the iron, the expensive liquid stuff, pills with vitamin c which actually helped. I read that Shazzie started taking ionic iron somewhere on her blog. We had the best luck with simple vitamin C and iron followed by a citrus chaser on an empty stomach. What a pain that is I feel for women so much on that point! You're doing a fantastic job! That's probably why baby is dancing! :D

You are doing great! Look as all that healthy food. Amazing! Baby ought to be strong as an ox!! ;-)

If you like the taste of Blackstrap Molasses, it's a great source of iron. I used to put it in my oatmeal. =)

And here's a tip: If you eat iron-rich foods along with foods that provide plenty of vitamin C, your body can better absorb the iron.
Beans,legumes,chickpeas,greens,cantaloupe have good iron content

Pickles and kraut--mmm!

My iron has been low and I took a supplement for it but didn't raise it until I got shots (ouch!). But I have been able to keep it up with all the greens I eat and juice and wheatgrass helps too. Also nuts and seeds have a lot of iron.
