Garden Planted!
Hello Sunny Friends! Thank you all so much for the wonderful feedback on my guest blog for Pure2Raw and for all the love and support on my pregnancy! I am now 10 weeks! :) Yippy! The nausea is sorta subsiding too! Phew! My issue now is the heat! The temperature reached 95 degrees here in New Jersey over the weekend! I have to learn how to get up slowly and sit down often. Otherwise, I spend the whole day lightheaded. I've never felt hotter.. or happier!
On Saturday, T and I planted our garden. I can't say I was much help. I handed him the plants and watered everything, but kneeling down in the dirt and sweating wasn't going to work this year. I missed it terribly (nothing like getting your hands dirty, planting plants), but I wasn't going to risk passing out. T is a garden God. HA HA!
Ginger enjoyed watching from the comfort of our new outdoor furniture. She isn't a big fan of the heat either.
Look at that smile! Her teeth are so cute and white, I just love them!
I also picked up something new for the yard.. I can't resist when something says "peace" on it.
We had planted our kale a few weeks ago. I can't believe how much it is flourishing. I will definitely be ready for it when it is done. Mmm, we've never grown our own Kale and I am super excited, especially since it is my favorite vegetable! Kale salad anyone?
Ginger keeping an eye out. She enjoyed sniffing every plant before we planted. We buy transplants, we do well with them.
A humorous picture of T planting. Yes, he is wearing a sleeve on his head. He wanted me to let you all know, this was the first time he has done that. LOL! Check out those muscles..hottttt! :)
All planted! We planted tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, cucumber and zucchini. I also planted a few pots of herbs: lemon balm, mint, basil and cilantro. I also plan on planting watermelon and cantaloupe just for fun, but that will be when the weather is warmer more often. Probably a few weeks. Are you planting a garden this year? What are you planting?
Finally, a lovely bouquet of flowers T brought home the other day! He has been feeling so bad about my not feeling well. He has been doing all the work around the house and doesn't complain one bit. What a man!
Have a great day everyone! I hope to blog again this week! I miss you all! XO

Good luck with your beautiful garden! I sure wish I could have one here in the city- maybe when I move to Brooklyn.
How exciting, that looks like fun! I so wish we had a garden... maybe one day... :) Glad the nausea is subsiding x
hooray for some of your nausea staring to subside, Lauren. that is some good news, fo 'sho. i'm gonna check out your guest post here in a few, too. excitedface!
T is just too sweet to you - you are one lucky lady! flowers, all the help around the house, and planting the garden for you both. yay! tell T i love his sleeve, and give Ms. Ginger some pets for me. :)
your own kale is going to be so awesome; i love all the herbs you've got planted - i should follow your lead and plant some cilantro 'n mint as well. mmmmmmm! we're just planting herbs this spring, but maybe at the end of summer i'll plant some squashes, kale, and swiss chard for a fall harvest. we're just too busy now to tend to much, but i'm looking forward to watching your garden grow!
lovely garden! I put ours in this weekend as well, it must have been the right time =) You're going to have so much delicious food! You can tell T that I use the same kind of headband, cute photo. Glad to hear that your nausea is lessening. Ginger is adorable and those teeth! That reminds me I forgot to brush Marley's teeth this weekend, thanks ;) Take care!
love you planted your garden!! I'm moving into our new home soon and the first thing on the agenda is to get the garden ready! I've got my seedlings growing ( 3 kinds of kale, swiss chard, carrots, tomatoes, salad mixes, spinach, and holy basil) I will be planting a lot more too once the ground is ready:) Love how your man was helping with the garden..soo sweet!(and the flowers too)
Sorry about the heat, we are in CA and haven't hit that hot yet.
Great looking garden. I was hoping to have already planted our garden but we have a huge gopher issue we are trying to deal with. Anyone have any suggestions?
So glad you are feeling a bit better.
The way T takes care of you, he will make a wonderful dad!
Heat is hard to deal with esp while pregnant! I remember even in the cooler temps I was roasting! it was great in the winter sorry you're going to be dealing with that during summer. Keep water with you always.
Garden looks great! So excited for ours too. :)
a man who gardens and gives flowers? special guy!
hope you feel better soon. hugs..
and all my critters say thanks for the kiss! one for ginger too. pucker up little pug!
This heat stinks! We didn't even get chance to ease into it! That is the worst part. It should get nicer this week :-)
So glad you got your garden started up, and your hubs is a cutie! You two make a very good looking couple ;-)
xoxoxo
95 degrees! Ay, caramba! It's waaaaaay too early for temps like that. I hope it's not a foreshadowing of what lies ahead for you this summer. If so, it's gonna be a looooooooong pregnancy, darlin'.
We're still experiencing regular frost warnings around these parts. I did put in the cool weather plants a couple of weeks ago, and so far, they're doing okay. I won't even attempt to put in the rest of the garden till month's end.
Ginger, you're a natural in front of the camera! Look at her, lounging on the patio furniture like a diva.
SO glad to hear you're feeling better and have ventured off the couch!
xoxoxo
Love the garden. I want one ... and someone with strong arms to take care of it for me. Ha ha ;-)
You're almost out of the first trimester, so you should start feeling better. Those kale salads were the best when I was pregnant. They kept my iron levels up.
Don't forget to break out the summer dresses. They helped me keep comfortable and cool. Hayden was an August baby. I recall it feeling about 10 degrees hotter than usual near the end of that pregnancy.
Ah thank you for your great guest post!
We have missed you too! Your garden is amazing...love kale, we though about growing our own since we eat it so much, but kept in simple with just cabbage. This is our first time planting something besides herbs.

Your garden looks great! I'm sure it will be pretty fabulous soon. I have a plot in a community garden this year and I'm SO excited to start growing my own veggies. I also have a whack of plants on my rooftop patio, including kale :) I can't even contemplate how awesome it is going to be to eat freshly grown kale!
Hope you're starting to feel better these days :)
95 degrees, wow. Glad to hear you're feeling better! A beautiful garden, a charming hubby, and a bambino on the way ... life is good :)
Lovely dog shots!! And lucky you to have such a great garden :-)
