I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. The weather here was just perfect! T and I spent most of our time outside, enjoying the fresh air and vitamin D! Ginger too of course. She was chasing bunnies out of the yard after an "incident" on Friday. We have a ton of rabbits that come in and out of our yard, in fact, they make holes and have babies in our yard! We don't mind at all. Hey, they are just trying to live life just like us! :) Anyway, one got into our fenced in garden (still not sure how) and T had come home and called me outside. I didn't know what was going on and Ginger and I ran out. Oh boy, Ginger did not like the bunny in the garden. She was barking and chasing it back and forth trying to get in, while the poor bunny was trying to get out. The bunny kept hitting itself against the wire fence, frantic and scared. T finally got a hold of Ginger and lifted the fence and the bunny sprung out and took off. Poor thing. I was so upset I left carrots all over the yard as peace offering. So now Ginger is ultra protective when she sees a bunny, and she chases after them, but luckily doesn't come close. Phew, looks like that bunny set something off in her. She is crazy!!
T and I also did some baby browsing this weekend. We looked at cribs (we are going to wait for to find out the sex before we buy one, we want white for a girl and cherry wood for a boy. We also went to a few eco friendly baby boutiques, talk about pricey! I think my registry is going to be high end with all the organic and eco friendly things I want! Of course, some were reasonable, I just have to stop looking at "boutiques", I know there are a lot of bargains online. Anyway, it got us thinking about other furniture and things we would like to get once the baby is born. Like sectional sofas so we can have room for the 4 of us (hey, or little couch is snug with only us 3). But, all in good time. We are talking about a master bedroom/kitchen/rec room addition down the line. Good thing T is in home construction (yay for family businesses too)!
Last week in an effort to up my iron intake, I made a big pot of lentils with butter beans, kale, yellow squash, and lots of garlic. Mmm, this was delicious! I am going to try to have lentils once a week. Just to get the extra protein and iron.

Ginger, naughty girl chasing rabbits. I guess dogs will be dogs. Glad you could give the rabbit an escape route.
Crib shopping--so much fun!

Lentils are divine. ;-) Your dish looks so yummy.
I agree with you...hurray for family biz!
Glad the bunny was okay. Doggies really get a little crazy around rabbits.
She's coming to NYC at the end of June I think! You should go see her! Omg, me too! Her Sun burgers were the first recipe I ever tried to make. She's like beyond awesome! So chill and very sweet!
I have the brads raw too, in cheddar and kale. i am super sensitive to salt and garlic so i need to watch it with those..but they taste so good going down :)
the iron siuation. you know beets are the plant-based iron queen, right. Make some! I ate tons of beets while preg and nursing (Well..i nursed for 3 years:)) but they are great.
Love the kale/stew/butterbean creation and heathy's goodies from the last post...omg. yum!
poor bunny! that was nice of you to leave carrots. i'm sure that made them very happy.=)

citrus juices are so yummy and oh-so good for you. sorry that the rice patties weren't very good, but Gena's high raw potato salad and your kale looks great! i loooooove your lentil soup, too - it looks rock'n & right up my alley. yum! hooray for baby browsing and thinking about how you want to make things in your home for your little one.
i hope your week is off to a fantastical start! :)
Last summer we had bunnies born in our yard and my dog (a pekegnese, small dog) thought they were her's I guess. She wouldnt come in from outside one night and her belly was covered in mud. We learned the next day that she was laying on top of them like she was the mom. We called the humane society bc we were trying to feed them milk. They told us the mom doesnt come back until night and feeds them then. My dog was so sad when they were gone a few days later, their real mom came back and took them once they were old enouph.
When we were younger, at our Aunt and uncles house in PA, they used to get bunnies in their backyard. We would feed them, well try to feed them at least!
Ginger is too cute!!
Pure2raw twins
Bunnies!! Aww, that's so cute - Im so glad you guys helped set him free from the garden :)
Must be fun baby shopping!
Glad you had a fab weekend girlie!
LOL, my first thought on the patties was that they looked as dry as hockey pucks. ;)
I like Brad's chips too - Philip did a giveaway for them, so we got to try all the flavors - i really liked the sweet potato ones!
Hugs!
What's the creamy high raw potato salad recipe! Looks so sick! (As in good :P)
Brad's chips look really cool. The rice cakes, not so much. Your lentil bowl? Stupdendous!
Darn, my comment got deleted!
Anyways, i was saying your pot of lentils et al looks delicious! I forget about lentils, need to eat more of them methinks.
I wish Brad's raw chips were available in the UK, they sound so good!
Btw, your commenting system doesn't recognise my blog so I'll sign in with my google account (i'm from www.glutenfreetriesvegan.com) :)
Oh the poor bunnies.
Don't worry about buying too much baby stuff right out of the gate. Just get the essentials to start, and then you'll find out what you really need. Every baby is different, and there are also a ton of items out there that really aren't necessary.
Those chips look yummy.
Lentils... yum! If you're not already, maybe drink a glass of water with some fresh lemon in it for the vitamin c (while you're eating your lentils) which will help your body assimilate the iron better. :)
XOXO,
Kristen
Mmm, lentil soup. Just had a bowl of Egyptian red lentil soup yesterday. Yum! Even YS2 loved it. hee hee! One day I'll try those Brad chips. Keep hearing good things about them. ;) Funny about Ginger and the bunny. Poor bunny but Ginger was just "doing her job!"
Oh my goodness, last year, Shorter had something in his mouth and was trying to get me to chase him. I heard a high pitch noise and realized he had an animal. It was a two week old, at the most, baby bunny! It was three inches long! I got it back and called a vet's office to see what I should do. It was safe and its mommy came back for him and moved the nest so big fat Shorter wouldn't hurt it lol
Love you!
