Weekend Eats and Another Candle79 Meal!
Hey Everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend! Thanks again for all the well wishes and love! I am still feeling sick, but I am so incredibly happy to have life growing inside of me! It's unreal how happy I feel inside!! T and I spent most of our weekend inside on the couch (good thing we were having crappy weather). I will be happy when this passes. But I'm just ridding with it now, knowing it's what's best for the baby.
Anyway, remember a few weeks back when I told you all about The Nuts Online contest and asked you to vote for "Team Raw?" Well, "Team Raw" won and so did someone who entered my blog as their referring site! Let me know if it was you! I am curious to find out who it was. The winner won a box of raw samples and they also sent another one to me, along with one thing I could choose from the site. I choice their sprouted grain raw cereal. Here it is below with some homemade almond milk. Yum!
I also managed to get down a smoothie at one point before the weekend: Bananas, Sunwarrior, Spirulina, Almond Milk and DHA oil. Someone had asked which DHA I am using.. I use Udo's vegan DHA oil. My Whole Foods doesn't have a wide variety of vegan DHA's, so if you want to suggest a better one, I am all ears!
On Saturday night, my sister had invited us to go to dinner at Candle 79 for her birthday. I wasn't feeling too good, but we made the trip in. I ordered the Guacamole Timbale: chipotle black beans, caramelized onions, cucumber-tomato salsa, tortilla chips, ranchero sauce. Under normal circumstances I am sure I would of loved this. But, since I wasn't feeling to good, it was a bit rich. I gave a lot to my sister.
For dinner I ordered The Mediterranean Tempeh Cake: truffled new potatoes, seasonal vegetables, preserved lemon, artichoke & olive salad. This was really good! Olives and artichokes are two of my favorite thing, so that made for a yummy (filling) meal. We were all really full after eating. But we still ordered a Mexican chocolate brownie: caramelized banana, coconut ice cream, toasted pecans, chocolate-ancho sauce. I am not a big brownie person, so I only had a few bites and ate the coconut ice cream on top.
Even though I wasn't feeling good, we still had a fun time and hope to do it again with my sister and her boyfriend soon. Have a great day everyone!

awww, nausea must be the worst, especially when you experience it mostly all day!!! it will go away!!!
Mmmm I heart Candle 79 so much. But no one will go with me! I'm sorry you weren't feeling well for it; that's downright cruel.
Looks so good! Hope your nausea gets better soon! <3
So glad you were able to have some fun! Looks divine!
Oh no im sorry to hear that you werent feeling your best, but everything looks delicious. I still wish I could go to canfle 79 I cant wait until i can travel on my own so I can go up there :)
Hey, I actually won the giveaway! I'm so glad that you got something out of it too (I entered every.single.day. and put your site in ... yay for persistence!). I haven't had a chance to make anything with my raw loot, but there were several things in there I've never tried before, so I'm pretty excited to get into it! Yay for us!
That sounds like a really mild smoothie. When I'm nauseous I can live on bananas. It's weird--Sarah from Living Fruity doesn't like bananas now that she's pregnant! You pregnant ladies have interesting tastes!
Bananas and spirulina are both loaded with vitamin B6 — great for combatting morning sickness! Keep drinking those smoothies, doll.

sorry that the nausea is still present, Lauren - but your attitude rocks! so awesome on you and T getting some quality time in on the couch together. that's one of my favorite things to do with dan - just bum out and relax. yay!
hooray for getting a smoothie in and another hooray for getting to celebrate your sister's birthday with her and her man. i'm so glad the mediterranean tempeh was so delicious - it looks gloriously good!
i hope ya find out who referred your blog for the contest - i think it's great that you won some tasty raw samples. :)

Again amazing looking food.
As far as DHA goes I take it in pill form, Source Naturals Vegetarian DHA, Deva or Spectrum now has a vegetarian one.
Don't worry; the sickness should pass. Just keep thinking it's for the good of the baby. I once heard that having morning sickness is a sign that the baby is doing well. Don't quote me on that, though.
I love your glass straws. I think I have to get me some. The food looks amazing!
