166 BPM!

Hey All! Happy Friday!! Again, sorry for the lack of posts, I am sure I will be posting again more often as soon as this sickness passes. The baby is doing great, I saw my "high-risk" doctor yesterday. Why am I seeing a "high-risk" doctor? Well, my main OB isn't trained to deal with illnesses and pregnancy, but this doctor knows all about Crohn's and handling it during pregnancy. She is the kindest lady in the world and wanted to know all about being a vegan. She said I knew more then she did about nutrition...duh..lol! She suggested I get more electrolytes, and Gatorade (YUCK), so I told her about coconut water and she loved it! The baby's heart rate was 166 BPM! Hooray! How rockin' is that? My family is saying it's a girl because a heart rate above 140 is said to be (according to wives tales). Any gender guesses? Most of T's family is saying boy, his dad says girl because he says my face looks different..okay..haha!

Anyway, last week I made this yummy juice, which would probably make me gag now: red cabbage and pear. Lots of pear.. cabbage is really strong! So pretty too!
Also, the people at Blue Mountain Organics send me some Better Than Roasted "Totally Nutz" 100% organic mixture of cashews, walnuts, pecans and almonds.
Really good nuts! Ha ha! I found they had a different taste to them, at first they tasted smoked, then really sweet. I read the back and found out that since they are raw and sprouted that they have a distinct taste. They weren't kidding, really flavorful! YUM!
Since most of my week has been on the couch, T came home from work with 2 surprises! Jenny McCarthy's book: Baby Laughs (sorry about this picture, I didn't realize there was a glare). Just what I needed, some light humorous reading. This book cracks me up!
He also brought me a mini-raw vegan strawberry/lime cheesecake! YUM!!! I could only eat half and a lot of the filling. While I normally enjoy the crust, it was a little heavy for my poor queasy stomach. I still have it in the fridge, might have to break it out again later on!
Have a great weekend everyone!

I'm praying that the sickness goes away soon so you can enjoy your pregnancy and this journey! Hang in there.

Today is actually National (cherry) Cheesecake Day, so your cheesecake is very appropriate, haha ;)

Enjoy your weekend! xo

Aww! Everyone told me it was going to be a girl because I was so sick, but it was a boy. People told me to do the wedding ring test and even pee on Draino. Um, no. LoL. Oh, and my mom told me when she was pregnant people told her it would be a boy if her prenatal vitamins were blue and a girl if they were pink. Riiiight.
That cheesecake looks delicious!

The heartbeat thing is an old wives' tale...I know from experience! LOL! But my initial thought is you are having a girl but it's not based on # of heartbeats. :) Either way, I'll be happy for you but boys are a lot of fun (*wink*).

That cheesecake looks scrumptious! I'll finish it for you. ha!

Awesome that you have a great doctor who's open and inquisitive to veganism and nutrition. I've had some who just stared at my blankly or raised their eyebrows. Whatever though.

Hope this phase passes soon and you're back in action. Keep that coconut water nearby.

hugs!

I'm so happy that the baby is doing well! That's awesome the doctor was accepting about your diet..that doesn't happen very often! Hope that the sickness goes away soon too...all the best:)

It just doesn't seem right when we know about more nutrition than the doctor but that's just the way it is!
So glad to hear the baby the baby is doing well, and you as well.

A quick story when I was preganant. A week or so before I went in to get the ultra sound to see what the sex of my baby was, I had a dream I was having a boy and that morning my sister called me and told me she had a dream I was having a boy. Weird we both had a dream on the same night.

I had a high risk pregnancy too (fibroid and a previous stillbirth) and I got to have a ton of sonograms, so that was awesome :)

Hi Sister, I said it was a girl before the heart beat... it's my intuition :)

Even the ultrasound lady told me I was having a boy with my first baby ... well, SHE wore blue for the first 6 months! The queasiness should pass as you progress and your body gets used to the change in hormones ...

I don't think I've said it, but congrats (!!!) on the baby!

I'll guess in a month or so, when I determine whether you are eating more salty, fatty foods, or sweet and sour. They've actually done studies showing that those who carried boys tended to eat more fats and salt. Also, not always, but alot of times the height you carry at can be a giceaway. However, you aren't showing yet. :)
Good luck!!

The heart rate makes me think it's a girl. Hayden's was much faster than Jacob's.

However, when I was pregnant with Hayden, everyone else I knew that was pregnant was also having girls. Then, after me, they started having boys. Can you break the streak?

Have you checked the Chinese gender chart (http://www.babygenderprediction.com/chinese-gender-chart.html)? It was right with both of my kids.

That Belly Laughs book is a trip. She really tells it like it is.

Yummy tart, BTW :-)

keep up the awesome attitude, Lauren - i bet you'll be feeling less nauseated before ya know it! :) it's gonna be kinda fun having everyone guess what gender your little one will be. tee hee!

T is too sweet to treat you to such awesomeness! :) i have heard great things about Jenny's book - i'm glad you're laughing & enjoying it. i have seen some of those blue mountain organics at my local natural food store, i'm gonna have to check 'em out!

i hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Awww, feel better, girl! :( Sickness is no fun. I'll be thinking about you!

I read that "Belly Laughs" book while I was in college. (Don't ask me why. I have no idea, seeing as I wasn't a mom or pregnant or anywhere near being pregnant. Haha.) BUT, I loved it! Super funny/cute!

So happy for you!!!! I loved the sickness because it told me every day that I was still healthy and pregnant - lol. Also, my husband heard on NPR that morning sickness can be a sign of a smart baby. Gotta love that! :)

XOXO,
Kristen

I am in love with both of your purple things- the juice and the cheesecake both look SO GOOD.
I'm so sorry about the sickness- I'd go nuts if I couldn't go out and exercise I couldn't eat. Those are my two favorite things, hahaha! It'll all be worth it when you have your lil baby, though!
