The Honest Side of Me

Happy Friday!

I hope everyone had a fantastic week! I am super excited for the weekend! Tomorrow T and I are going to NYC with my brother in law and his fiance (who also happens to be my best friend). For Christmas, we started a tradition were we go out to dinner with each other, before Christmas, instead of getting each other a gift! So of course, we are going to Candle 79!! My brother in law is a vegetarian and his fiance is also a vegan. T just loves the food there! We are also going to stop by the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree! T proposed to me there 5 years ago on the 17th! So it's a special place for us.

Anyway, I received this awesome award from Hippie Mom at The Raw Journal. Thanks Hippie Mom!
There are rules to receiving this award:

1. Post the award on your blog.
Present this award to 7 others whose blogs you find brilliant in content and/or design, or those who have encouraged you.
2. Tell those 7 people they've been awarded HONEST SCRAP, inform them of these guidelines.
3. Share "Ten Honest things" about yourself.

I don't like to pick people to give awards too, instead I want to honor ALL of my readers with it! :) So feel free to play along on your blog.
Ten honest facts about myself :

1. I am pretty small, only 5'2. For years I thought I was 5'1 and 2 years ago, after I started taking yoga, I grew an inch! I swear I am 5'2 now! :) Plus I wear heals 99% of the time!
2.I am left handed and I love it. For some reason I have always liked to be different. In High School I wore the pointiest of pointy hot pink and red pumps and people thought I was crazy. A year later when it became a trend, everyone was wearing them!
3.Crohn's has held me back in life a lot. I shouldn't let it, but I usually don't make plans to meet new people very often because if I get nervous, so does my stomach.
4.I stopped hanging out with my high school friends when I met T. For some reason it just felt right that it was only him and I. I still talk to them once in awhile, but I enjoy spending time with him, my brother in law and my future sis in law.
5.Speaking of which, my future sis in law has just became my best friend this past year. She has been with my brother in law for 4 or 5 years, and we've always got along, but circumstances have brought us closer this year.
6.T and I met over Mike's Hard Lemonades at an underage party. I was 16, he was 18. My good guy friend was his best friend. T went to a different high school and he was in college when we met. Love at first site!
7.My mother grew up in Yonkers and occasionally slips with her accent. It's pretty funny.
8.T and I hope to get pregnant within the year 2010!
9.I was a cheerleader in middle school and I was captain of 2 squads. I really don't like the girl I was in middle school. My friends and I thought we were so cool and made others feel bad about themselves. Totally not how I am now!! I also took dance from age 3-13 and gymnastics for a few years. I am pretty flexible and have been told I am a good dancer.
10.I worked at a high end, trendy shoe store from 17-21. When I graduated high school I got an entrepreneurship award because I was basically managing the store. I thought I would go on to be a district manager and then a buyer, but after 911 the store starting losing business and eventually went under.

Phew, so that's honest!!! :) Anyway, this week I have been juicing and having lots of kale salads at lunch. This juice was kale stems, romaine, pear and lemon.
A few weeks ago, I won a contest on Twitter and Vega sent me a box of Vibrancy Bars along with a totally cute reusable bag. These bars are awesome! They are crunchy from the buckwheat groats and that makes me think of a Rice Krispee Treat!
Last night, T and I had a date night! We went out for half priced sushi. I orders avocado rolls with purple rice and sesame seeds. I brought along some Bragg's so I wouldn't have to use yucky soy sauce!
Have a nice weekend everyone!

Thanks for sharing, Lauren. Don't let your illness hold you back from sharing your beautiful soul with others. I hope you will meet me despite it because you know that I love you for who you are not what you have. I used to feel like no one would want to be my friend because I can't do anything that requires walking or standing for more than (at the time) 3 min. I was pretty limited without good meds then. Now, it's not a big jump (10 min) but I realized that I have a lot to offer despite my limitations. So do you!!!!!!!

I can relate to when you become nervous. My stomach does the exact same.

Where is that sushi place? I have yet find anywhere that goes beyond brown rice. That purple rice looks so good!

Nice that you're going with your brother to candle 79. Can't think of any better place to eat! Have fun in NYC!

Hey Lauren, it's actually in Westfield. Very popular place! :) I ask for the purple rice, they don't advertise it on the menu, but when I saw someone else got it, a few times back, I asked and they delivered!

I get brown rice sushi from Whole Foods and Wegmans every so often!

Thanks for being so honest. It takes a lot of guts...oops sorry no pun intended.

I can relate to the issues with others. Back when I was healing still from celiac disease (it took several years of being gluten-free to feel normal), I used to have issues with being out and having tummy issues. it's no fun. :-(

I love the purple rice on the sushi! white rice is just so dull compared to it.

Keep up the juicing!! you are doing great!

Hi Lauren,

I wish you much success and love with your plans to become pregnant in 2010! It is also one of my goals, although I will wait until the fall to try, as I need to work on my health further. Maybe we could be pregnancy buddies?

I had never seen purple sushi rice before. Thanks for sharing the photos - I will have to check into that!
