Back on the Juice!
Wednesday? Already? This week is actually moving along for me, or maybe it's because I am typing up this post on Tuesday! ;)
I hope you are all have a speedy week! I am back on the juice.. green juice that is! I am loving the feeling I get after drinking a big mug of this. Why did I ever stop?! Anyway, this was kale, zucchini, apple, and concord grapes.
Going back to the weekend, I made some broccolini with garlic and olive and a steamed artichoke stuffed with gluten free bread crumbs. I didn't over stuff it like the one I had on Thanksgiving, I actually prefer them just steamed with garlic and olive oil, but this was a nice change. Also on the side is some baked tempeh. Every so often I get the craving for tempeh or tofu, and I give in and enjoy! That's my motto!
Also from the weekend: brown rice with mixed vegetables. In this dish there is broccoli, carrots, turnips and cauliflower.
I bought these Go Raw Choco Cherry Pom Bars from Whole Foods. They are pretty good. I am not a huge fan of dried cherries though, too sour! It makes me pucker just to think about them!
Earlier this week, I made some split pea/lentil soup with sweet potatoes and carrots. Sheri from Green and Crunchy gave me her "recipe". I put recipe in quotes because, like me, Sheri doesn't follow any guidelines and just goes with the flow. She told me what she used and I did it my way!
Lastly, the cutest picture ever! When I was in the basement exercising yesterday morning, T stopped home and saw this perfect photo op! He grabbed my camera and Ginger did her magic. She is either praying or waiting for her manicure, I can't decide!
Have a lovely day everyone!

Green juice is THE BEST! I start almost every day with a big frosty glass, it wakes me up like WHOA. I don't drink coffee, but I would be willing to bet the energy rush from green juice is even better than the caffeinated kind!
Lovely eats but REALLY lovely smushy wushy pug face! Must kiss!
Sheri's awesome, love that lady's recipes!
And your veggie plates look sooo good!!! Nice juice too. slurp :)
Ginger has to be the cutest pug I've ever seen, fo' reals!
I love green juice, but most days I'm too lazy to clean the juicer so I make smoothies instead :) I really should change that, though. Everything looks lovely and tasty!
Ginger gets cuter and cuter every time! :-D
That is the cutest picture of Ginger!!!
Now for the food, love the green juice and i really need to make some split pea soup.
Awesome that you're back on the juice! My blender broke so this week I've been missing it...It's amazing what a difference the juice makes in overall energy levels!
Ginger is so cute! She looks like a little cuddly stuffed animal :)
Thank you for the shout-out, my fellow pea-soup-lover! Yours looks delicious and so THICK! Yum.
That stuffed artichoke meal looks like something you'd pay big bucks for in a fancy restaurant. Totally gourmet!
Ginger is adorable -- always looking so cuddly :)
Oh my goodness, Ginger is so stinking cute. Thanks for making my day with that picture! :-) (I usually don't comment, but I just had to for that pic! LOL!)
That juice is a great colour, I've been a bit lazy and have been making smoothies but no juicing.
And Ginger is adorable!
Oh it all looks so yummy! I love green juice too, but I get lazy so I don't have it as often as I should. You may have inspired me otherwise though....
I really like what you said about having tempeh or tofu once in a while - I am the same way with some foods that I usually avoid, but when a craving hits, who am I to deny it? So many people forget that eating is also about pleasure, not just nutrition, and end up eating according to many 'rules', which is a shame.
Oh yes, and a super cute doggy too!
I think Ginger would love to get her nails done! The juice looked good, I use to love green juices, but have been taking a break.
This inspired me to stop into Dean's today and get a green juice for an afternoon pick me up! I am so hoping I get the juicer I have on my Christmas list...
Definitely waiting for a manicure!
I juice every morning. This morning it was apple, orange, cabbage juiced and blended with banana and spirulina.
Juice power!
Oh what a cute picture of ginger!
It's amazing that you can even make green juice look like comfort food...everything you create looks so satisfying...I bet that helps makes your journey a little easier to swallow...no pun intended. I will be in NJ next week visiting family (I'm originally from Short Hills). Haven't been back in a while and was wondering if you could recommend a great vegan/veg/raw fusion restaurant in that area (Summit/Madison/etc)
Thanks in advance and love your blog
Melissa
Hey Melissa!
I actually live in Westfield, very close to those areas. Unfortunately, all the vegan places are down at the shore. But, we go to a big Whole Foods in Millburn/Union. They even have a place called Osteria attached that is a healthy restaurant. Other then that, there isn't much around here, NYC is where it's at! :) Good luck, have a nice trip!
Thanks Lauren for the info...I can't believe you live in Westfield...I lived there 3 years ago (for a year).
We lived on Central Ave...Do you ever go to the YMCA there? I will be working out there when I'm in town and hitting up Trader Joe's as there aren't any here in Florida...if you want to meet up for a work out or yoga class...email me @ missy.smith@hotmail.com.
What a healthy week! And that IS the cutest picture of your dog!
hoooooooooray for green juice, Lauren! i haven’t had one in a few days – i totally need to make one now! i don’t think i’ve ever had a fresh artichoke before – now i want to try one out, and your broccolini & baked tempeh look so delicious! the brown rice yumminess sounds delightful, and i’m with ya on dried cherries being super sour. they also make me pucker. tee hee! Ginger is the best, and so is that lentil-split pea soup. yay!
Juicing is always like a little homecoming for me. Cheesy, yet true!
All your food looks healthy and delicious as always! That's the best ever photo of the most adorable Ginger!
Look at that cute little face :) Aww!
I love green juice, whenever I make a big pitcher I always feel like I get a buzz or something. Its amazing how the enzymes go right to work giving you energy.
I had the same craving in the MIDDLE OF WINTER to only eat raw! It's so funny..
Seems like you're feeling great, I am so happy to hear! Hope everything else is well, my dear :).
Love,
J
