A Mumble Jumble Post

Hey All! I hope you had a nice Halloween weekend! Happy November!! I can't believe how quickly Christmas is approaching us! T and I are talking about starting a family after the holiday's, but it's scaring me how quickly it is coming!! :)

Anyway, my lovely friend Janelle awarded me with this blogger award! Here are the rules:
This award is bestowed on to blogs that are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement.Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers.Deliver this award to six bloggers who must choose six more and include this cleverly written text into the body of their award.I will pass this award to some of my bloggy friends that I find exceedingly charming...
Since I find all the blogs I read to be charming, I will not choose, instead I pass this along to all of you! Thanks for reading and being great friends!

I do not dress up for Halloween anymore, instead T and I stay in, hand our candy, make a nice dinner, watch a scary movie and eat some good quality dark chocolate. My sister on the other hand goes to parties and dresses up with her boyfriend. This year my sister was a skinny cow, I asked her if I could post her pic, since it was so relevant.
She is a teacher as well, so you can imagine the controversy this costume brought along! I love it! Awesome job, Amanda!
Going back a couple of days, on Friday I received two more gifts that I won from bloggers. On the left is the little carrying bag that came along with the Diva Cup I won from Making Love in the Kitchen and on the right is Vegan Cupcakes Take Over The World, which I won from Veg is Sexy! Can't wait to use both! Not together of course.. ewwww!
Back to that dark chocolate. I spotted this Dark Chocolate Lovers Bar at Trader Joes. This bar is 85% cacao and really rich and delicious! I only had a couple of pieces from it, but YUM! I stuck it in the freezer so when I want a little nibble next weekend I can grab it!
Sorry for skipping around so much in the post... but Saturday morning, T and I went for blood work, then out to breakfast for some vegan/gluten free pancakes! We drove about 30 minutes to The Rutherford Pancake House, since this is the only place (that I know of) in NJ with vegan breakfast options--everyday! I had mine with blueberries, YUM! This place is conveniently located near the vegan cupcake shop: Sweet Avenue Bake Shop, they weren't opened that early though (thank God!).
Sunday, T picked a bunch of figs from our tree! The harvest has been great this season because T put a net around the tree so no birds or squirrels could get to them!
And finally, dinner from last night, gluten free spaghetti with broccoli and white beans. This was tasty and filling. Perfect and comforting, especially after laying on the couch most of the day watching football with T, and by watching I mean, I was reading a book and he was watching! Haha!
So what did you do over the Halloween weekend? Did you dress up? How did you spend your extra daylight savings hour? Have a nice week everyone!

Girlfriend! Love how you just slipped that in there. WoooooHooooo! [although, I feel Ms. Ginger may get quite jealous of a new sibling]

Your sister (and her clever costume) are darling.

I've had that Dark Chocolate Lovers Bar from TJ's, and while I am a lovah of the dark chocolate, boy howdy did that give me a wicked headache the next morning! Be forewarned.

Figalicious! Quite a harvest you got from your lil' tree this year!

You will LOVE your diva cup. I have saved so much money and aggravation since my diva cup. It's the best!

I love your sister's costume. I might steal it next year.

Congrats on the award and your goodies.

And can't wait to hear about your adventures starting a family.

congrats on the award, Lauren - yay! that's pretty exciting that you and T are thinking about starting a family. awwwwwww! :)

i love your sister's costume - that rocks! we stayed home this year (dan had the flu), answered the door & gave candy to all the neighborhood trick or treaters, and enjoyed carry out for dinner (thai food. mmmmmmmm!). hooray for fig awesomeness, the yummiest pasta dish (i super puffy heart me some white beans), and vegan pancakes! i probably would have waited hours for that vegan cupcake shop to open up - ah ha ha! let us know how fun "vegan cupcakes take over the world" is (i look forward to many cupcake posts!) - and keep us posted on the diva cup, too. i still have 2 sea sponges left, but once i run out i may switch over to the diva cup. yay!

Love the costume! Way too cute.

I worked. And watched the Yankees. And made a quick appearance at a party. Very debauched ;-)

Your new Halloween tradition sounds very relaxing and nice. I stayed in too, but I was studying so it wasn't so much fun. (I think I aced my anatomy exam though, so it was worth it!)

Hi Lauren,
When you have a minute, please stop by my blog to receive blog awards!

Congratulations on your award, you definitely deserve it!

I LOVE your sister's halloween costume, that was very brave and totally awesome of her.

Enjoy VCTOW, it is brilliant! I use my own recipes now, but back in the day of using that book I loved that the recipes were so consistent - they always rocked!

Awesome post. Good luck with your "after the holidays" fun. ;)

Figs.... yum. Funny - I read once that they help with fertility, especially for men. They're known because they look like testicles and they're loaded with "seeds." hehe :) Have no idea if it's valid, but it's fun.

Cheers XOXO,
Kristen
