Girls Weekend
I hope everyone had a great weekend!Well, I mentioned that I was going to have a special meal to post... but I forgot to take pictures!!! ARG! T was away all weekend at a football game in Buffalo, NY. So the girls went to Candle79 for dinner. I had my best meal ever there! They just introduced the new fall menu and it was amazing! I want T to take me back ASAP! He really missed out. They even had a vegan cannoli dessert and it brought back so many childhood memories! I am telling you--TO-DIE-FOR! :) POM was kind enough to send me more samples of new flavors they will be coming out with. Kiwi and Nectarine. T drank both of them (of course, he loves POM) but I did take a few sips and I really liked the Kiwi. The flavor took the bite off of the pomegranate taste. I would say that these new flavors are going to do well.
The other contest that I won last week was from the ladies at Veg Out With Us! I won 4 candy bars from Go Max Foods. They are vegan, contain no trans-fats, cholesterol or artificial flavors and I think a few are gluten free. I haven't tasted them yet. But, T and I will share each one (I promised him, plus the calories/fat are pretty high). I am going to try to save one for Halloween too. Just in case I am craving some chocolate!
Friday night I made a simple meal of sauteed kale with garlic and mushrooms and a side of brown rice. There was more kale then rice, but T plated some of the rice on top of the kale.
I had my first fig of the year from my fig tree!!! I have a few more coming too! I am so happy they came in, we were a little nervous we wouldn't get any since the first harvest of the year, we only got 3. I was sick at the time and didn't get to have any! I am a happy girl now!
So, like I said T was away all weekend. Sunday, my sister, cousin and my best friend (who is also engaged to my brother in law), came up and we did some shopping and dinner. We went to my favorite new age store in town, Success Express. I posted about it before here. I just love this place and I could spend hours looking at all of the cool things they have. I bought some essential perfume oil, a meditation book- Meditations to Heal Your Life by Louise L. Hay, some oracle angel cards (which are freaky at how true they are), a feng sui crystal to hang in my window (I have one hanging in my car as well) (not pictured). While I was at the register they had little sachets filled with different healing rocks and crystals and I picked one up and low and behold, it was the one for healing. So naturally, I had to buy it. :)
Have a nice week everyone! I promise more food in the next post!

Such great finds and figs! :) Glad you had a nice weekend - no worries about forgetting to photograph the meal!
I love figs too! Glad you are able to enjoy some! I need to grow my own fig tree since I am addicted to them when they are in season.
I love figs, how wonderful that you have your own tree!
The Pom samples....I just got some coffee ones I need to review too.
Your shopping trip sounds great! Crystals and incense and oils and stuff like that is RIGHT up my alley!
So cute that you'll share each one of the candy bars with your hubby, he's very lucky! I just made kale, garlic and mushrooms stir-fry last night, Now I know that I'm inspired by you to make this dish, YUM!

We are lucky our neighbors fig tree hangs over our wall. hee hee
Girl time is the best! So are figs. :)
meditation is the best! if you have a chance you should pick up a book called "the garden: a parable" it changed the way i looked at everything. let us know how your meditations to heal book is! i'd love to know!
figs = the best! hooray for your fig tree, and hooray for lots of kale, and those tasty candy bars, too! mmmmmmmmmmm! so awesome on having such a fun weekend & getting to enjoy yummies @ candle79! w00t!
I didn't know Pom came in different flavors, I'll have to check it out. And yay! for your first fig off of the tree! :-)
I really want to try that kiwi POM!
ooo i've never seen those bars!! they look yummy!! can't wait to hear how you like them!!
someday I will get to visit Candle!! so glad you had a nice weekend and meal!!!
Your weekend sounds divine!!!
I don't think any of those candy bars are gluten-free. I looked and most had barley in them. I'm pretty allergic so I had to stay away. :-(
hey :) My sister loaned me her copy of You can Heal Your Life. It's neat to reference it. Also, as a gift, she gave me the Cheryl Richardson Self-care Cards. I love them. She has the angel therapy cards...I'd really like to get my own set too.
...Just stopping by... have a lovely day!
